What Is Embodied AI?

Embodied AI

Embodied AI is a subset technology of artificial intelligence due to the latest research in machine learning and computer vision. Thanks to the research teams of two tech companies: Facebook AI Research and Intel Labs. Embodied as a simple means of an expression or giving a tangible or visible form to any idea, quality, or feeling. “Embodied AI” define as artificial intelligence for virtual robots. The concept is based on the field of study for virtual robots with the capability to move, see, speak, and interact within their virtual space with other existing virtual robots. These simulations of robots can later be transferred to real robots with physical bodies.

In contrast to initially, AI technology which is based on Psychology and Cognitive Science, the research and development of Embodied AI is mainly based on computer vision research theories. Embodied AI combines subset technologies of artificial intelligence such as Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computer Vision, Reinforcement Learning, Navigation, Physics-Based Simulations, and Robotics. Embodied AI provides the capability of training AI virtual robots and egocentric assistants in a realistic 3Dimension simulator before transferring to the next level in the real world.
